Knowing When To Break Up

Relationships are a part of our everyday lives. We meet someone and enjoy their company. Maybe we think that they are attractive, but sometimes when we really get to know them, we start finding flaws. Others may think maybe this is someone that I could live with for the rest of my life and just jump right in, not taking the time to really know the person.

So how do we know when it is time to break it off with someone? First of all, if the other person is criticizing you, or saying words to hurt you, then they probably don't really genuinely care about you. If they have cheated on you, or lied to you, and tell you that it won't happen again, they probably aren't the right one for you. You could be wasting your time with that person.

Some signs that it might be time to break up are when you have been with them for a long time, and they don't show much interest in you anymore; or if you are constantly fighting, and verbal abuse is involved, then this is not healthy for the relationship.

Does this person relate well to friends and family members? If they don't want to be around the people who you associate with, then it will only get worse later on. You should probably move on with your life.

Do you have common goals and interests that will keep you communicating with each other, or are you just with them out of loneliness? Really question your motives for being with this person, and if the love for them isn't there, you had better move forward without them.
